Four Loko was in Full Effect

While at Specs with my friend Joseph, we stumbled upon Four Loko, a high gravity malt beverage with an insane APV of 12 percent. Similar to JOOSE, Sparks and other high alcohol, high caffeine drinks, it is meant to get you hyper and drunk.

It was a chilly Friday night and we could not turn down the temptation. So we both paid $1.99 for the beers and set off. I chose the Watermelon flavor and Joseph picked the Grape.

Pourin' Up

The drinks poured with no head at all and had the consistency of a flat cola. Mine was pinkish and Joseph’s resembled grape cough syrup. They smelled very sweet.

The first sip was as expected, sweet and strong. It did not taste overly alcoholic at first but after drinking it, you can feel a tingling in the core.

The Four Loko had me Hype

At first I resisted the drink, fearing the consequences of Taurine, Caffeine, Guarana and Alcohol on my body, but then I went “Loko” and kept drinking.

Half way through I felt like an 18 year old who just had their first Yaeger Bomb. When Joseph was 3/4 through, he said he felt a little buzzed and was ready to go downtown.

Joseph's Heart Rate was Increased

Overall, the Four Loko did not taste as bad as I thought. I thought it was more palatable than JOOSE. Joseph echoed my sentiments and said he also believed that it was stronger than JOOSE as well.
