Our Night began at Pure Nightclub to watch Austin’s own Mother’s Anthem and The Vetts of New Orleans. The Vetts opened with a well performed show that got the audience moving to their unique brand of grunge indy pop. Not only does their music lend itself to a great live rock show, but is versatile enough to span many genres. Any head bobbing fan of club rock need be sure and check em out. (especially live) Check out my upcoming band profile in Study Breaks Magazine for more info on them.
Soon after, we were rocked out by Mother’s Anthem. If you ever have the treat of seeing them live, know that you are in for some serious production value through simplicity. No lights, banners, or fireworks needed (sorry Kiss fans) to be impressed here. If their person to person energy alone doesn’t get you moving, an oncoming freight train wouldn’t either. Trust me, if you are the motionless person in the audience, you can expect to be singled out personally when the lead singer (Kirk) jumps into the audience. Their recorded music alone is enough to get rock fans hooked, but trust me, you want to see them live. If there is a god, this band will have the opportunity to showcase itself in an arena sometime before 2012 when we all die. I can only imagine their current antics if someone did throw some fireworks into their show.
